Division of Diocese

Dear Viewers,
Do you agree with Division of Diocese on the Basis of Area. Firstly reshuffle the Present 18 dioceses in Kerala and reconstitute new dioceses having not more than 50 parishes on the Basis of area. At present Parishes in a town come under different dioceses. Through this proposal we suggest that parishes in a paritcular area come under one diocese and aviod the difficulty of long journey of believers to go to Diocese head office for satisfying their needs.

Its a good suggestion and to be implimented soon.moreover transfer of bishops also requierd.

Its a good idea to decide diocese on the basis of area but with minimum number of Parishes in each parish. Kandanad West & East should be made one with Muvattupuzha as the centre. The parishes like Bhrain & Qatar should not be under Bombay diocese. Bishops who were posted to metro cities shall be given chance to serve under developd areas too. Policy for time bound transferring bishops should be made. When highly educated Bishops are available, its fair to allow more bishops to represent Malanka Orthodox Sabha in forums like WCC.

Division of Diocese on the basis of geographical area and distance is a good move. The present Kollam and Trivandrum diocese are to be reshuffled/rearranged.New doicese to be created not based on Adoor or Kottarakkara but Either Punalur/Pathanapuram depending minimum 50 parishes.Thers should be a far east diocese for Singapore/Australia/and Auckland

The Division of Diocese should be strictly on the basis of Geograghical area and all diocese should get almost equal number of churches. There is no need for Kottarakara and Adoor Diocese.Instead I propose for Trivandrum,Anchal,Kollam,Mavelikara,Thumpamon,Nilackal,Chengannur,Niranam,Kottayam Central and Knanaya,Kottayam,Idduki,Kandanad (East and West amalgamated), Kochi, Angamali, Trissur, Kunnamkulam,Malabar,Sulthan Battery Dioceses in Kerala.Bangalore includes Brahmavar upto Goa, Chennai,Bombay,Ahmedabad from Surat/Udhana onwards,Delhi,Calcutta in outside kerala regions.North Ammerica,South America,Uk-Europe-Africa in outside India Dioceses. Atleast one parishes in Gulf regions is to be allotted to Idduki, Kandanad, Kochi, Malabar,Angamali,Battery,Kunnamkulam,Trissur Dioceses.

Isaac said.....To me, the division Diocese should be made on a geographical area and with a minimum churches basis. If you look that way then we must have Dioceses at Trivandrum, Quilon, PATHANAPURAM and not Adoor and Kottarakkara. Nilackal is a perfect area for a new Diocese.
But outside Kerala or outside India, we should look only at the Geographical basis and there should not be any minimum church requirements. The main reason for this excuse is because our priests work as paid employess of the church and their attention is all on money matters. Within their assigned time, they look forward to amass maximum wealth. So they have no time to form any new congregation or churches in their area of work.
The Diocesan Bishops has no time to create any new congregation or visit any rural places because most of the time they love to spent their life in Kerala or they are busy visiting other Dioceses.
The Far East Region is a typical exampples of such situation and we need to change this.
They must have a separate Diocese because otherwise our next generation will be lost to the new generation churches which are mushrooming like anything.

Sincerly pray and hope to see a Diocese at the Far East Region.

I go with Vattaparambil achen, Because the gulf churches should be divided to those diocese which are bit financially backward.

other than than Geographical division will help a lot for the church members

The idea of dividing the present Diocesan structure further, on the basis of geography and boundaries is a welcome decision. But just to keep a few things in mind, the new diocese should have a mix of big and small churches. As said in the above comments, churches within the same vicinity should be brought under one roof, which would help in the better functioning of the diocese. An example of this is set by the Diocese of Angamaly, which was erstwhile known as Angamaly East and Angamaly West.Bringing both together has seen the growth of the Diocese in all aspects.
Secondly, i beg to differ with few above said comments which were of the opinion of dividing the Outside Kerala Region [O.K.R]churches among the financially weak dioceses. O.K.R. churches cannot be compared with the churches of Kerala. They function with an all different attitude as compared to churches in Kerala.

Praying that this new decision would help in the fulfillment of our masters wishes and growth of our Indian Orthodox Church..

GOD BLESS...+...

It is good to have Dioceses geographically but the idea of dividing churches in U.A.E or Gulf under different dioceses is not a welcome move. The approach of church machinery to consider Gulf as Gold Laying Egg should be changed and church should raise to the occasion to create a separate diocese and should have a bishop who is capable to interact with the Arab world and to fulfill the spiritual needs of our faithful in Gulf. There are a lot of places were our faithfuls don't have a church of their own however the sister churches are swiftly establishing churches. Church should think of other mechanics to channelize the generousness of Gulf to the enrichment of all the dioceses. The practice of Bishops and priests coming to Gulf only for contributions also should be stopped.

It is beter to start new diocese in group wise. Because it is easy for dividing the parishes . We can ordain all the unmarried priests as bishops. That will solve all the issues we facing right now. All the parishners will get chance to celeberate their house warming, shope & car warming, marrige, engagements, and all other functions by a bishop. We are living in a fantacy world. Ha..ha...ha...

I DO AGREE WITH ISSAC AND SOME OTHERS,
BUT, NILACKAL IS AN UNDERDEVELOPED AREA . ITS A HILLY AREA.THERE IS NO ONE TO SUPPORT THIS CAUSE
THE VOICE IS NOT HEARD IN THE MANAGING COMMMITTE SINCE THERE IS NO REPRESENTATIVE FROM THIS AREA.LEADERS FROM THUMPAMON , KOATTAYAM, NIRANAM, AND CHENGANNOR ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE ECONOMICALLY AFFLUENT GOOD PARISHES TO THE NILACKAL. Eg: VANCHITRA , ST.MATHEWS KOZHENCHERRY , MARAMON, VENNIKKULAM MAR BAHANANS MUNDAKKAYAM AND SO ON
MY SUGGESTION IS THAT THE DIOCESE MUST HAVE MINIMUM 52 CHURCHES. AND SOME GULF CHURCHES SHULD BE ADDED TO NILACKAL SINCE ITS IS A HILLY UNDER DEVELOPED AREA.OUR CHURCH HAS NO INSTITUTIONS HERE, SCHOOLS COLLEGE , HOSPITALS, ENGG COLLEGES, B.Ed COLLEGES OR ANY OTHER...
MOST OF THE PRIESTS ARE NOT WILLING TO WORK IN THIS AREA BUT AN EXCEMPTION , FR. IDICULLA CHANDY WHO IS WORKING FOR THE FORMATION OF NILACKAL DIOCESE FOR A DECADE.
NOTE THAT PEOPLE FROM THIS AREA ARE NEGELECTED
EG; VINOY KURIAN(LATER BISHOP OF IDIKKI)WAS NOT GIVEN A CHANCE FROM THUMPAMON TO SEMINARY
ALSO HIS FRIEND FR.JACOB VARGESE( NOW BISHOP MAR BARNABAS) FR. JACOB WENT AWAY FROM CHURCH WHY ?? HE WORKED SINCERLY FOR NIRANAM AND FOUNDER OF PANAYAMPALA ASHRAM AND BOYS HOME
WE HAVE TO THINK OF IT. MANY ARE NEGELECTED FROM THIS AREA
THEIR VOICE IS NOT HEARD
ITS TIME TO RETHINK ABOUT OUR POLICIES

PRESENT HISTORY OF NILACKAL
MIGRANT CHRISTIANS FROM OTHER AREAS CONSTRUCTED CHURCHES IN AND AROUND NILACKAL SOME 250 YRS BACK THERE WAS NO OTHER CHURCH AT THAT TIME ONLY ONE CHURCH
BUT ITS DIVIDED NOW
OTHER GROUPS HAVE THEIR DIOCESES IN NILACKAL AND RANNY AREA.KANANITES, ANGLICAN, MARTHOMMITES, PATRIARCH FACTION, MALANKARA CATHOLICS STRTED THEIR DIOCES AT PATHANAMTHITTA RECENTLY TRYING TO FORM ONE AT PERUNAD NEAR BETHANY, MALBAR RITE FORMED A FORANE AT RANNY- NILACKAL. TH BUT WE DONT HAVE ONE EVEN NOW BUT WE ARE PLANNING FOR IT FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS
ITS HIGH TIME TO FORM A NEW DIOCESE NILACKAL TO COMEMORATE ST .THOMAS AND HIS MISSION.
ITS A SRATEGIC LOCATION DUE TO SABARIMALE PILGRIMAGE, HILL HIGHWAY
SABARI RAILWAY LINE ,
I DO APPRECIATE FR. IDICULLA CHANDY WHO IS SINCERELY WORKING FOR THIS CAUSE
NILACKAL IS A MISSION FIELD
PROTESTANTS ARE FLOURISHING IN THIS AREA THEY HAD MANY BIBLE COLLEGES HERE AND THEIR NUBER IS INCREASING DAY BY DAY WHY ?
NEARLY FIVE LAKH RUPEES COLLECTED FROM THIS AREA DURING LAST CATHOLICATE DAY COLLECTION
I HAVE A LOT OF THING TO TELL,
MAY POST IT LATER
NEW AFFLUENT DIOCESE ---NILACKAL SHOULD BE FORMED AT THE EARLIEST IT WILL NOT BE LINKED WITH ANY OTHER PROPOSALS LOKE KOTTARAKKARA OR ADOOR. NILACKAL SHOULD GET A PRIORITY. SINCE IT IS ACCEPTED BT THE MANAGING COMMITTEE ON 5-10 2000
ALSO YOU MAY REFER THE KALPANA OF BAVA 149/2002
SO ITS HIGH TIME TO FORM A VIABLE ,GEOGRAPHICAL,
SELF SUFFICIENT, NILACKAL DIOCESE FOR MALANKARA ORTHODOX CHURCH,
I DO CONGRAGULATE MALANKARA ORTHODOX T V FOR THEIR INITIATIVES IN THIS REGARD

The Managing Committee of our Church is testing the patience of the proposed Nilackal Diocese members. Nilackel had and has lot of potential. It is only due to the vested interest of some people especially from the diocese where I belong to (Thumpamon) is a stumbling block for its creation. Hope the M.C ON 10 June 10 will take a decision on the formation of this Diocese

Anita K. Sam .... The diocese need to be biforcated and formed new diocese. Individual or a group interests shall not be entertained and always a fair diocese division is justfied. This is required for the bright future of the Orthodox Sabha. The names of new diocese shall be changed while dioing the reorganisation. Bombay to be as Mumbai.. Madras to be as Chennai.. Bangalore shall be as Bengaluru .. and the UK.Europe & Africa need not to have UK affixation but it shall be called only as Europe & Africa. Within Kerala the Kottayam Central shall be changed as Kottyam Devalokam .. and the Malabar diocese is to be changed as Kozhikode or named appropriatly because Malabar is representing now a region where another diocese Sultan Battery is present. Even Sultan Battery may be changed as Wyanad.. Pl. think of renaming diocese appropriatly.

Philip said...

Dear Anita,
I agree with some of your comments. I have enquired with a few decisions makers with regard to the use of UK inside the Europe & Africa diocese. The reply was it was in UK that our church in Europe was formed first and on such emotional grounds that the name has been kept. I can't agree to that justification but that is how things are. Also with regard to the usage of 'Malabar'makes sense.

George said...

I came to know that a proposal is drafted for nilackal diocese and there is only 42 churches due to church politics and pressure form different local giants. Reorganization committee is higjacked by vested interests . Thumpamon diocese has nearly 120 churches Niranam above 90 and kottayam is also almost same why not a diocese of similar in strength at nilackal ? Geographically nilackal is in between these three . Think of a diocese in eaqual no of churches and economically viable, don’t keep double standards here this is for the wellbeing of our church,
Church Must Give Care To The New Born Nilackal Diocese
Bifurcating churches with a strength of houses with 15 - 40 to nilackal and keeping good parishes both financially and membership wise at the mother diocese this not justifiable . examples kozhencherry st Mathews, vanchitra ,vennikkulam, mundakkayam so on
if the leaders are not willing to give away “their affluent parishes”
incorporate few churches in gulf our ouside india to the nilackal diocese, without any lame old excuses pls

2. Nilackel Diocese - A long felt need

Nilackel Diocese - A long felt need

L/L H.H Baselios Marthoma Mathews II (Kalpana No.259/92 dated 2 Jan 1992) appointed a committee to look into the reorganization of existing dioceses in our church. (Imagine when the initiation for such a committee must have felt!)

An interim report submitted by the said committee was discussed in the Managing Committee held on 12 May 2000. It took more than eight years from the date of the appointment of the above reorganization committee to move one step forward! On the basis of the said report Mavelikara, Nilackel & Bangalore dioceses were to be formed. In the Managing committee that followed on 5 October 2000, a list of churches to be included in the new diocese of Mavelikara was presented and forwarded to the Holy Synod which was approved in February 2001.

During this time, due to the development from the verdict of the Supreme Court, the new managing committee was formed and in its first committee held on 9 & 10th of August 2002 decided to reorganize the dioceses. 25 dioceses were divided amongst 22 metropolitans we had during that time. Among the list of 25, the new Mavelikara Diocese could find a place and Nilackel and Bangalore were ignored.

In 2008/09 three new dioceses were formed - Ahmedabad, Europe &Africa, Bangalore. America was divided into two. Again no mention of Nilackel.

In the early 80's, I remember L/L HH Baselios Marthoma Mathews I on his return from Nilackel after chairing the first ecumenical meeting held in front of the newly consecrated Ecumenical church at Nilackel having said in a private talk, our church should have a diocese in Nilackel.

The people of Nilackel have been patiently waiting for its formation all this while. Meanwhile, we lost many of our faithful to other 'modern' churches. We can blame it on lack in spirit!
As a person who have travelled numerous times in that area am aware of its potential. Definitely not in terms of making money, but in terms of faithful. May be who cares for the faithful that could be reason for the delay in its formation. I sincerely hope the formation of this diocese is not delayed any further and it takes place at the holy hands of our reigning Catholicose HH Baselios Marthoma Didymos, at the earliest. Let us pray for the health of our Catholicose.

Philip Ayyamplackal, Auckland

PS: When the Catholicate celebrates its centenary in 2012, somebody should plan the 20th anniversary of the Diocese reorganization committee as it has not yet completed its task at hand.

Both the Kandanad Dioceses can be merged together. Nilackal should be created

I looked at Vattaparambil Achen's proposal. I have some difference of opinion. With regards to Kochi and Trivandrum diocese....both will have considerably less number of churches (under 20) according to this proposal.
Again, I wouldnt want to see churches in middle east and asia-oceania being divided among dioceses in Kerala. Instead there should be a new diocese covering Middle east,Rest of Asia and Australia.
If churches outside are divided among Kerala dioceses, then they will always be depending on these churches for their growth and wont develop on its own

Who is this vattapparampil, may be intelligent bust i would say has no commonsense or may be poor in geography. Me just taking the case of nilackal. Where is this vayalthala ?
Just 5 k m from ranny , kozhencherry 10 km from ranny , erumely 12 km from ranny .
the boundary of nilackal can be mannarakulanji kozhencherry road in the south the road goes through pullad vennikkulam , up to mallappally bridge. Then the manimala river, manimala is 9 km north of rannyriver manimala can be the western boundary. Boundary at north manimal chamam pathal , ponkunnam , kanjirappally mundakkayamin the north east and from there the forest areas up to sabarimala south east area of nilackal is forest and cannot fix an exact boundary. Ranny is the central part of nilackal area
Nilackal is in ranny taluk. Nilackal is a thick forest area and the head quarters should be in the central part that’s ranny
VAYALATHALA IS IN RANNY REGION OR DISTRICT OF THUMPAMON AND RELATED WITH ALL RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES OF RANNY CATHOLICATE CENTERE. THEY BUY & SELL THINGS AT RANNY MARKET TOO
9 CHURCHES OF KOZENCHERRY DIST IS INCLUDED IN NILACKAL SOME CHURCHES ARE 17 -18 KM AWAY FROM RANNY
BUT KOZHENCHERRY IS JUST 11 KMS NEARER TO RANNY SO KOZENCHERRY DIS SHOULD BE FULLY INCLUDED IN NILACKAL
VANCHITRA AND ST MATHEWS KOZHENCHERRY , HAS APPRX: 200 PARISH HOUSES EACH WHY EXCLUDING IT FROM NILACKAL ??
PLS DON’T MISLEAD PEOPLE BY FALSE STATEMENT S . THUMPAMON DIOCESE HAS NEARLY 120 CHURCHES
WHY NOT SPLIT 50 CHURCHES FROM THUMPAMON ??
Mother dioceses are keeping good churches with them splitting poor and small parishes to the new diocese ?
If you think so then why not a gulf or outside india parish to nilackal ??

Many writers have already explained the situations and expressed their reasons
for a separate Diocese consisting of all the far Eastern Regions.

Any one who have visited this Far Eastern Regions would agree how disorganised and disintegrated our Orthodox Community is while other denominations are flourshing.

Achens from India are spoon fed. They will come and go but they take liittle or nil initiative to visit or establish atleast a congregation or even a prayer group in any other areas where our Othodox followers live and work.

It is time for our Orthodox Episcopal Synod and Administration to act for the welfare of the
believers working at the Far Eastern Regions.

It is always better to have separate committee to study and to deal with the need of any new Foriegn Dioceses because the problems of the faithfull living outside India are different in many ways than from that we deal in India.

May our Lord God Almighty shower all his Gracious Blessings on or Catholica bava Thirumeni and members of the Episcopal Synod.

Why didn't you touch the American, Canadian, UK, Europe, African Dioceses? Why not New York to Idukki, Houston to Sultan Bathery, Canada to Pathanapuram, UK/Europe to Far East?
Achen, sorry to say, you never learnt geography properly

May be you can reorganise the Dioceses with in Kerala with 50churches and 7000families but if you wait for this sort of minimum requirements, then forget it. Our members will be forced to join other Christian denomibations which are flourishing like mushrooms.

It is sad to note that all our appeals for a separate diocese for the Far East Region with all the valid justifications went into the deaf ears of the Malankara Orthodox Church.

It is further learnt that the Episcopal Synod members and the Management Committee are still
struggling to divide the two peacefully existing Quilon and Trivandrum Dioceses for the benifit of some BIG GUNS.

Now, I truely suspect on one thing !! Is this a MONEY play?? Why are they insisting to divide these two dioceses?? What is the distance between Kottarakara and Adoor??

So, soon can we see new dioceses at Pathanamthitta, Omalloor, Ranni, Vadasserikkara ,Irrinjalakuda, Chalakudy,
Pattom, Nalanchira etc??
Is this new Dioceses for the conveniences of our Metropolitans so that they can always stay at the own village and with their families?

I strongly feel that we, the members of the Indian Orthodox Church at the far East Region, Pathanapuram and the Gulf should come together to organise an action committee and approach the Heirarchy in a Communist Manner like march past and hunger strike etc, otherwise we are simply wasting our time and efforts for nothing.

Or else we should collect sufficient fund to please the Diocese Dividing Committee.

I strongly feel that every Panchayat and Thaluks in the Kerala State should be declared as a Diocese and elevate all the Rembans as Bishops to serve these new neighbourhood dioceses.
I am sure all our Metropolitans will be more than happy with this proposal so as to stay closer to their families.

A gentle request to all the dividing committee members... please leave Konny/Vakayar churches alone and let them stay close to Thumpamon / Pathanamthitta Diocese for the rest of the periods.

Please don't bother too much about the outside India Dioceses as they are only the milking cows. Let them and their children have the freedom to join any new creation churches.

Sad to say the dividing committee doesn't have any vision for tomarrow.

I have read many a comments written by Vattaprambilachen and I have held his views in highest regard. However, I have a few differences in the way he has divided the churches outside India in this topic. Afterall that was his view and that is not the end of the world. So let us not jump into any forgone conclusions. Remember Nilackal diocese was in discussions since the early 80's and it is now 30 years since then. It takes time in our Church to implement any fruitful decisions and that is the reason for all the negative growth we see in our church.
Also a note for Shaji, Malaysia, Our Malankara Church is spread around the world. So when a person expresses an opinion from a different part of the world don't try to humiliate him. Afterall you are not a Malaysian. What is the status you have amongst the Malaysians. We are all Indians first and then become Malayalees, Christians, Orthodox and so on. Tomorrow God may give you an opportunity to serve in Mumbai or in New York, who knows. So let us not encourage the ‘sons of soil’ issue.
It is high time that the present Diocese Reorganization Committee is dissolved and a new committee is elected on a fixed term of one year to submit their report with regard to reorganization of all the dioceses.
There should be no Bishops and Priests in the Committee. The Holy Synod should appoint a committee. It should be a committee comprising of our lay people from different parts of the world who are aged not less than 50 years in age, preferably civil servants, teachers, gazetted officers who are not members of any Managing committee of the Church. Also it should have minimum one member representation from every diocese. A glance through the Association members list will fetch us sufficient numbers. Couple of them can visit places like Far-east, Gulf and find out a workable solution to form a diocese in that part of the world. Only such a committee will be able to present impartial independent report on reorganization in a timely manner. Otherwise if we form a committee with a Bishop and a few priests and a few managing committee members, their intention will not be impartial, given the trend in our Church. The best example is the present reorganization committee which has passed nearly 20 years in service!
Money should not be the motive in dividing the churches amongst dioceses and that is what is preventing the growth in our church today.

Any way now the church should desolve the Reorganisation committee and form a new one to geographically reorganise the dioceses in the northern part of the state in a time bound manner.

Dear Brethern,
Malankara Orthodox Tv ,Icon sites are open forums where they invite the members opinion/comments.It doesn't mean that everything should happen as we all desire because there are committees constituted for all purposes and it is these committee that proposes to the high command.Sometimes our comments/proposals/suggestions may be more helpful/valuable, it may be of one of us.So I request all, not take things in a negative sense,be positive in our approach.

Although the British has left India years ago, our Orthodox Church group still believe in the "Divide & Rule" of the peacefully existing neighbourhoods rather than finding out the spiritualy backward areas and promote our Orthodoxy in other parts of the world.
I strongly feel that each Metropolitan and Priests should be given an additional task to
organise atleast five to ten churches and congregations within their neighbourhood every year before get posted to another area.
Only this way we can create more churches and families in any new potential dioceses.

Pls note that certain cocus associated with the centere and dioceses are planning things
ordinary laymen “ fathful”” viswasikal” has no role in the formation of the dioceses
Will and fancies of certain people are master minding things
One kuttappan decide things “ the brain behind things “ the faithful belivers so called viswasikal” and their views are ignored.
Example nearly 120 parishes are there in thumpamon27 churches are given to form nilackal from the rest its heard that konny diocese is forming before 2012
Also the case with niranam
Equal number of churches are there there is a posibility of forming a mallappally diocese
Why not the ardent preachers keeps double standard
I have a query ?? Any one pls answer me who represented the views of churches at nilackal in the managing committee with out any proper consultation nilackal diocese is formed
How can a diocese survive with 35 churches
2100 families its learned. Why forming such a dioces why what for ?
Thumpamon church has more than 1000 families
And also near by kaipattoor chandanappally , omalloor makkam kunnu
Kumbazha kozehcherr road can be the southern border of nilackal
King makers pls think of a viable self reliant diocese without subsidy
Valkashanam
Gurgan bishop has ordained a new bishop to malankara orthodox church recently
Can any one name him ?
Policy makers are to think ??
Our policy failed in 1973… that lead to the revival of patriarch faction
What next ??

It seems all are fed up with ………………….. Pls listen , why we start or form a new diocese ?
Which body or committee made the decision ?
Who is the representative of nilackal region ?? In that body ?
How can a diocese survive with 35 churches ? With poor labourers and ordinary people “poor adivasis of hilly high range nilackal region “ ??
It’s believed that church may give grant or subsidy or what ?? Will it be effective ?
is it viable ? Who is the master mind behind the diocese formation ?? Our leaders may get more phd s or post doctoral degrees , for the formation of such a diocese.
Is there any crieteria to form a new diocese ?? Yes minimum 5000 parish- houses
Above 54 churches and it should be geographically united, and financially viable ?
out of 35 / 11 churches has a total membership of below 30 houses. 10 / below or just above 50 and the the rest 90 to 160 range none of the parishes have 200 houses.
My humble request is to re think about the decision of forming nilackal diocese with 35 churches. Er all gimmicks the reorganization committee opted for 47 churches. Names are cut at night and finally its 35 it seems
VALKAZHANAM
2.5 CRORES OF THE LATE BISHOP IS IN BANK, THE TRUSTIES OF EXECUTION IS IN A PARICULAR AREA, LEADERS ARE AFTER THEM , THEIR WILL AND FANCY IS OF MORE PRIORITY THAN A VIABLE DIOCESE
BISHOPS ARE WAITING TO BE LANDED SOON for malankara church
MORE NAMES ARE NEEDED FOR THE BISHOPS MAY BE KAIYYAPPAS , ANTHIPPAS , AGRIPPAS , ANTHIMAS ,AND WHAT NEXT WHATS WILL BE THE FATE OF OUR CHURCH ? FATHER FORGIVE THEM !!!!!!!!

A good diocese needs a capable bishop who has vision and works to achieve it, an capable admistrator who is well known and works for church strengthening, priests who are not biased to any fractions and take the best decisions, institutions to help the needy and pious believers (who does attend church and doesn’t sit in church offices and other spaces smokes and drinks at least at time of church activities) who attends church activities properly.
Mr Abraham’s suggestion on Bishops and priests working for new church formations and all is a great suggestion. Emphasis also should be given for institutions like Schools, colleges,Hospitals, seminaries etc. Why?The periods where people goes to church has passed. The new era people need churches and other facilities to be nearer to them. But practically for older diocese with well-established churches the aim should be to strengthen the congregation’s .Newer diocese needs better and capable Administrator. Augen thirumeni was one such person, he did work for Idukki Diocese and made things happen in 2 years which would have taken a lifetime for others. Nilakal Diocese which I am part of should also have a younger and capable administrator like Thirumeni. The current allotted church numbers of Nilakal diocese are the most regretful. It would be better to have churches from Mylapra to Erumeli ,Mallapally-Maramon area churches should be added to this diocese.Vayalathala, kadamaithitta churches which are part of ranny district should be in this and shouldn’t be left out for the vested interest of one or two people there.
I seriously doubt if the planning committee have any vision about the church? The time taken for implementing a diocese itself took decades and this low no of churches for the newer diocese has prompted me to say this.. Please take to account various geographic and economic factors and don’t heed to selfish motives of selected few. Mr George’s mention of newer patriarch was good to see. I appreciable decision by our synod to appoint a Patriach to “troubled Syria”,I would even go on and suggest we should appoint a Pontiff To Europe(history has shown Emperor Barbosa doing so).The appointment of a so called Major Arch Bishop Catholicose by Pope has prompted me to say that. I mentioned the lack of vision in start of this paragraph. Why? The new patriarch should have been bounded by law not to do anything that may trouble our church but I guess due to this vision problem they didn’t do that and now snake which got the warmth has bite us back.
Nilakal is blessed by St Thomas and we should have a vision to make this region our church’s strong hold like any other diocese. If we are strong people, others would respect our church. Cases like Malankara Varghese case wouldn’t happen. We are taking so much time in making decisions that it can be compared to the highly corrupted government office that takes so much time for a file to move from one place to other .The government let it be UDF or LDF or Any others, would make side with the stronger side. If cases have to be solved, churches to be reopened proper planning and internal strengthening are needed. It is my humble request to the church Leaders to do things with a vision

The diocesan division is very good and thereby Church activities can be improved. It is necessary to form new congregation and to build new Churches in this part of Kerala. I appreciate the hierarchy for the wise move. Regarding the names it is upsetting that the new diocese names are in double place names like Nilackal- Ranni, Kottarakkara-Punalur, Adur- Kadampanadu to satisfy one or two big wings ego. This is too much and it is better to have single name for the newly diocese when it is coming for approval of Holy Synod. It is also to tell that the name of new diocese Brahmawar required an added place name to locate the area as this place is little known and therefore this diocese name may be as BRAHMAWAR-GOA, (instead of Mangalpuram as this place Brahamawar is at Mangalore. The place name Kadmpanadu with ADUR will create confusion as we have KANDANADU diocese.
One of the Church members noted in the media that the new diocese formation is for few elite people to enter in to Church Managing committee. I wish to plea the Church HOLY SYNOD and The Malankara Association not to increase the total strength of the Managing Committee from 86 Lay leaders and 43 Priest leaders of total 129. Please adjust among the diocese the present representation appropriately.
