Do you think that problems made by the Diocesan Leadership of Kollam in the Division of Diocese issue is suitable for the growth of our church.

Never, especially when they are blessed with a Metropolitan like H.G Zachriah Mar Antonios. Today if you look at the number of Bishops we have more than 10 are from Kollam diocese. Infact the people of Kollam diocese should be role models and support their metropolitan who is the convenor of the Diocese re-organisation committee. They should not create trouble for the church.

Restructuring/reshuffling/reorganising the diocese of Kollam should not be for the interest of certian individuals. The Leadership(both clergy and laity) of Kollam Doicese sould behave as a model to Whole Malankara Church.

Reorganisation of diocese may become a necessity for better administration. We have to take into account other aspects like some other churches policies to trap our believers into their fold. This is evident from the action of Malankara (Romans)catholic church. They lack principles and will do anything to take hold of our families. Unfortunately people who have gone to them do not understand what they've lost. If reorganisation can help in reachout to our peopel we should go ahead.
I do not understand why our people make a hue and cry over this admistrative issue

Restructuring should be done based on the current strength of the existing diocese. If it weakens the existing diocese, the whole point is it should be re considered.

Instead of breaking out the diocese, leader ship should look into the fact of strengthening regions / diocese that requires help

We should expand the number of Bishops to 50 and 10 year serving bishops can be made Senior Metropolitans (can be called Pope) under whom there should be 4 dioceses. A bishop should not have more than 40 churches so that he gets atleast on eSunday in each Church in a year.

Firstly all senior bishops should retire and take a more spritual role in the church, be a guide to the new bishop's. But even after illness and not being able to functon in they full capacity, no one want's to let go the power and authority.

Let us pray for a peaceful Managing committe and the proposed Dioceses by the Holy Synod get formed.

I fully agree with the comment made by Mr. Abraham. It is long time that our senior bishops who are not able to manage the diocese give up their administrative positions. A great example is the Northeast American Diocese, where all the administrative functions are in shambles. This Diocese provides the most financial support to our Sabha however the needs of the members are not met and there is lot of frustration amongst the members. Some members have left and joined other denominations. The Holy Synod somehow seems to ignore the pathetic condition of this Diocese.

Whoever maybe, whatever maybe, however maybe should take the concerned and affected party/ies into confidence before the final decisions or else it may result into more walkouts in the future not only by the topmost, but from subordinates too.

I just can't believe that Anthonios Thirumeni would walk out.

This culture of walkout we learned from political parties is really not suitable for religious people.

Some decisions may not be in our personal interest but we should submit to it for the good of the Church

Rev Varghese achan

Did Christ took his followers into confidence before appoininting a disciple over them.
These are the worries of some people who would benefit or lose to benefir from some administrative changes.
For the belivers they can continue to worship at the same place. When the dioces become smaller, smaller churches would get more attention of the Bishop.

Changes are certain in the world and we have to adapt to it.
This is not like dividing Korea or Germany. At least we get a chance to air our opinion. can this happen in Roman churches or any other churches. We Orthodox believers shouldn't misuse the democracy in our Sabha.

Mr Jayson, thank you for understanding what I was expressing. Yes about the North EasT American Diocese. Do You know that Bishop H.G Barnabas long time ago was a Monkand would not even like traveling by air plane coz he thought that its waste of money. caryying a wooden cross wearing only Kavi color robe, doesn't make anyone holy. Now he won't move from US. He even had a big episode back long time at the association meeting about Banana Fry. He should retire and move back to Idduki...where his service will be more needed as a monk..?

Do divide the church into small diocese theirby the growth of church and members get more opportunity to work and serve the people at higher level ,this will help in growth and development of the Malankara Orthodox Church. One can take e.g Bombay division (Ahmedabad)thus a dedicated Bishop can help in the spiritual needs and growth of people.

A decision will never please everyone. When a decision is made which affects, lets say 10 people, atleast 2 out of 10 will not be pleased with it.One has to understand that and have patience.
Threatening to leave the Church sighting administrative problems is very silly. That means such people are more interested in admn position and power and not in faith.
What difference is there with people like that and Mar Ivanios and Valakuzhiyil Severios...
We should follow the examples set by great lay leaders like Mammen Mappilai who stood strongly for the church and Malankara metropolitan despite having personal issues with Vattaseril Thirumeni

Innocent said...

Yes Mammen Mappilai was a man of integrity. I have read many books on St.Dionysius (Vattasseril). The personality of the Saint was very well explained by Mammen Mappilai. I have never seen such a genuine impartial explanation given by Mammen Mappilai irrespective of the fact that they had some issues in the past. The lack of such personalities is the curse our church facing today.

Kottarakara is a one of the premium place like Kottayam for forming a dioceses. Kottarakara having lot of strong churches. I am belong to Kizhakketheruve church and i am located in kottarakara taluk but my dioceses is thiruvanthapuram. This is not right. Iam not finding anything wrong in forming kottarakara dioceses. Just think postively we need more churches, dioceses let the saba grow. Please forget the individuls. Just think about the number of orthodox people, saba establishment in Kottarakara. This is my openion.
